PILOT TRIALS
DATA INTEGRATION
Coolindown Farms has been piloting a message handling platform that converts information into a unified format effectively creating a data standard. Once standardised the data "strings" are stored in a time series historian database that has accomplished the goal of data ownership and control.
We are pleased to announce that all our sheep data is now in the database and we have eliminated the need for an individual sheep management software solution. IoT devices are also feeding data in real time to the database allowing us to look at many aspects of management and potential efficiencies through automation.
WORKSHOPS
The 8 pillar framework was developed in conjunction with Wes Lawrence and was released at the beginning of October 2020. It has been identified that many layers of the industry don't have a clear understanding of the framework in which to communicate and articulate objectives and projects.
As a result we have decided to pair up and develop a workshop to be rolled out across the country starting in WA to share our collaborative learning with anyone and everyone that is interested. These will start with pilot workshops right here in Esperance in March 2021. To find out more go to the 8 Pillars page....
UNIVERSITY TRIAL
Coolindown Farms has been a fly collection site for the University of Melbourne for over a year. We have a rather delightful smelling fly trap and have sent multiple samples to the team in Melbourne. We are proud to be supporting this initiative and are hopeful that the fly genome study will lead to a breakthrough in preventing flystrike.
We are also in discussion with LaTrobe University and are hoping to host a Masters student here in 2021 who will be looking at a particular element of animal welfare. We will keep you posted!!
